MSU Receiving Service Coordinator Teresa Davis officially qualified this week to run for the open Oktibbeha County circuit clerk seat in the Nov. 7 special election.
Davis unsuccessfully ran for circuit clerk in 2011 and said she hopes to use what she learned during that campaign to help shore up votes in 2017.
So far, Davis and Starkville Municipal Court Administrator Tony Rook have been the only candidates to officially qualify, but Election Deputy Clerk Sheryl Elmore told the SDN on Friday she intends to run for the office once she nets the necessary amount of signatures required to qualify.
“I am ready to work for our community,” Davis told the SDN on Friday. “I think when I look at it, accountability, integrity and honesty are all characteristics that any candidate would need to run for these offices and I’m ready, willing and able to offer it. Together we can.”
Davis is a 2000 graduate of Mississippi State University and has worked in management and administration during her professional career.
She is currently employed at MSU as receiving services coordinator in Receiving and Property Control and is the mother of two teenagers.
