Some Oktibbeha County roads will be getting some updates following a unanimous vote by the Oktibbeha County Board of Supervisors.
Parts of Sun Creek Road, Old Highway 12 and 16th Section Road will receive repairs, reclamation, reseal and striping at a cost of $905,520, with funding coming from the MDOT Office of State Aid Road Construction.
The project will include two miles of Old Highway 12, 2.6 miles of Sun Creek Road and 3.2 miles of 16th Section Road.
“This is all State Aid funds,” said Oktibbeha County Engineer Clyde Pritchard. “We have them in house right now. I think the last State Aid number we had was a million plus,”
Pritchard said work on the roads is scheduled to begin in the summer.
State Aid road funds are administrated through the Mississippi Department of Transportation, and go to a list of projects laid out by county boards of supervisors in Mississippi.
Pritchard also touched on the status of some other engineering projects in the county, including some work to possibly be done in the Hunter Ridge Estates subdivision.
“We’re reviewing that now,” Pritchard said. “They have a couple of roads that they would like the county to accept out there. Their engineer and I have been passing information back and forth about their intentions.”
