STARKVILLE, MS
For two months city police have gotten “numerous reports” of mail theft, according to Brandon Lovelady, public information officer for the Starkville Police Department. He sent out a news release Wednesday afternoon warning residents to watch their mailboxes.
“This has occurred primarily in the Sherwood Forest Area,” Lovelady wrote. “Numerous checks have been stolen from mailboxes, altered, then cashed.”
Starkville police have contacted other agencies about the string of incidents, he said. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 662-323-4131 or Golden Triangle Crime Stoppers at 1-800-530-7151.
