Authorities have located an Oktibbeha County Jail inmate convicted of sexual battery and other crimes after he escaped from the facility Friday night.

Terry Hill was taken into custody at approximately 10:30 a.m. Saturday after being located in a home in Okolona.

Oktibbeha County Sheriff's Department Chief Deputy Chadd Garnett said in a press release Hill was taken into custody with no incident by officers with the Mississippi Department of Corrections, US Marshals, Okolona Police Department, Chickasaw County Sheriff's Office and Monroe County Sheriff's Office.

Garnett told the SDN Hill was being transported to Central Mississippi Correctional Facility in Rankin County.

"Sheriff (Steve) Gladney would like to thank all agencies that were involved and all their staff for a great job," Garnett said.

Oktibbeha County Sheriff Steve Gladney said Hill escaped Friday night around 8:30 p.m. by entering through an exhaust fan in the ceiling of the shower. He then made it to a crawl space in the ceiling and crawled approximately 20 yards to the attic of the facility, before coming down the stairs and exiting the building.

Agents with the Oktibbeha County Sheriff's Department, Starkville Police Department, MSU Police Department, Clay County Sheriff's Office, Monroe County Sheriff's Office, US Marshall and Okolona Police Department all assisted in the search.

Hill, 44, was convicted in Oktibbeha County Circuit Court last week of sexual battery and other charges stemming from a 2016 incident in the Cotton District. Hill is facing a prison sentence totaling 105 years. The sentence consists of 15 years for robbery, 30 years for each count of kidnapping and 30 years for sexual battery. The sentences will run consecutively.

This is a developing story and the Starkville Daily News will have more information as it comes available.
