Authorities are currently searching for an inmate that escaped from the Oktibbeha County Jail Friday night.
West Point native Terry Hill, 44, was convicted in Oktibbeha County Circuit Court last week of sexual battery and other charges stemming from a 2016 incident in the Cotton District. Hill was set to begin a prison sentence totaling 105 years.
Oktibbeha County Sheriff Steve Gladney said Hill escaped Friday night around 8:30 p.m. by entering through an exhaust fan in the ceiling of the shower. He then made it to a crawl space in the ceiling and crawled approximately 20 yards to the attic of the facility, before coming down the stairs and exiting the building.
Hill was caught on security camera leaving the area and walking north toward Washington Street. He was last seen wearing black shoes, a white shirt and black plaid pajama pants.
Hill was last spotted near Okolona in Chickasaw County around 6:30 a.m. Saturday.
Agents with the Oktibbeha County Sheriff's Department, Starkville Police Department, MSU Police Department, Clay County Sheriff's Office, Monroe County Sheriff's Office, US Marshall and Okolona Police Department are all assisting in the search.
This is a developing story and the Starkville Daily News will have more information as it comes available.
