Residents of the Bell Schoolhouse community off Highway 389 serviced by Trim Cane Water Association should plan for an interruption of service for most of the day on Wednesday.
There will be under a boil water advisory until further notice
.
Trim Cane Water Association, which services a population of around 450 to 500 people, said the interruption is due to work being done on the main waterline running from its service area to Starkville.
"We buy water from the city of Starkville so we have a large line that takes the water out and then disperses it through the community," Trim Cane Water Association President Mildred Wade said. "That line goes under Trim Cane Creek."
Over the years, the creek has eroded and the line is now exposed. The water association plans to replace the exposed line and then cover it.
The boil water notice will be in effect after the pipe is installed until a sample of water is sent to Jackson and tested. The duration of the advisory also depends on how long it takes to replace the line.
Wade said the association plan to get the sample to Jackson as soon as possible, but how long the testing will take depends on how busy the testing center is.
Wade said they hope to have it turned on before people come home from work in the evening, but there are no guarantees.
