Oktibbeha County Election Deputy Clerk Sheryl Elmore officially qualified Monday to run for the open Oktibbeha County circuit clerk seat in the Nov. 7 special election.
So far, MSU Receiving Service Coordinator Teresa Davis and Municipal Court Administrator Tony Rook are the only other candidates to officially qualify. All candidates will run as independents in the non-partisan special election.
Elmore told the SDN this is a position she has always been interested in running for and now it is the best time to do so.
Elmore said her eight years of experience in the office of the Circuit Clerk is what sets her apart from the other candidates running for the open seat.
“I’m more comfortable here,” Elmore said. “I know the ins and outs a little bit better.”
Elmore said her main message as a candidate is to make the court run as efficiently as it possibly can.
“I want to get the office back to where it was before and I look forward to the challenges,” she said.
