The Starkville-Oktibbeha Consolidated School District Board of Trustees approved some personnel changes in a special called meeting Thursday. The board hired Gregory D. Stephens as an assistant principal for Starkville High School.
Stephens is currently assistant principal at Leake Central High School in Carthage. He has served as a teacher, coach and administrator in several school districts across the state, including stints in the former Starkville and Oktibbeha County School Districts. He holds four degrees from Mississippi State University..
In the same 4-0 vote, the board approved three administrator transfers. West Elementary Principal Andrea Smith will serve as the district’s director of assessment and intervention. Henderson Ward Stewart Assistant Principal Gabrielle Mills will serve as Principal of West and Director of Assessment and Intervention Julie Fancher will serve as HWS assistant principal.
The vote was made following an executive session lasting less than an hour. The board also discussed the possible purchase of land in the session, but Board President Keith Coble confirmed that no action was taken on the matter.
In another 4-0 vote, the board approved a measure allowing Peasant to advertise for any bids for the $27.5 million Partnership School.
This measure gives Peasant approval to advertise for bids throughout the project, instead of seeking board approval to advertise with every bid. However, all bids still must be approved by the school board.
