The Cake Box Eatery and Bakery, a business no stranger to moving locations, will soon move about two miles down the road to the East Plaza Shopping center downtown this fall.

Mark Taylor, who is in charge of the company’s marketing said the purpose of this move is due to a higher density of traffic in that area, especially at night. The eatery aims to open their doors the first week of August at 100 Russell St., Suite 16.

Along with the move, Taylor said there will also be some smaller changes with the relocation.

He said these changes will include extending the eatery’s hours for dinner and having their popular hamburger plates offered every day instead of just on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Taylor said he didn't want to reveal too much, but there are going to be some changes to the menu saying “It’ll be a nice surprise.”

Taylor said moving is a typical concern for businesses, but this move in particular seems to be well-received by the people of Starkville. Taylor said the only challenge the business will face is trying to stay on schedule with the move.

“I feel very confident,” Taylor said. “ I’m just worried about getting over there in time.”

Even though the business is dealing with the daily stresses, Taylor said he is most excited to start decorating the new location, embodying a more retro look, saying “it’s pretty awesome.”

When asked if there will be any challenges the business will face because of the relocation, Taylor said it will be adapting to the increase in traffic the business will receive on top of its original traffic and hopes that customers will be patient through the growing pains.

“It’s a little bit smaller and we expect to be busier,” Taylor said. “Hopefully we do a lot more to-go orders.”

Taylor said many people will call the move a new beginning, but they are looking at this as an opportunity to expand their reach as a business and member of the community.

“We adjust really well and we look forward to meeting new people,” Taylor said.
