A Starkville man arrested earlier this month on felony assault and drunk driving charges is said to have kicked a Starkville Police Department officer.

Court documents obtained through a FOIA request say Marco Limarion Brown, 31, was being arrested on March 11 for driving under the influence on Highway 182 near Reed Road when the arresting officer attempted to search him.

Brown is accused of then kicking the officer in the groin. The officer warned Brown not to kick again, but Brown ignored the ordered and kicked the officer in the groin a second time.

The arrest report states this is Brown’s second DUI charge.

Following the incident - which occurred at 9:59 p.m. - Brown was taken to the Clay County Jail and charged with simple assault on a policeman. His bond was set at $6,261.

If convicted, he could face a maximum $1,000 fine and up to five years in prison.
