STARKVILLE, MS
Starkville aldermen unanimously approved a bid for the city's project to renovate police headquarters Tuesday evening.
Demolition on the project will start as soon as Aug. 23, and is set to finish April 2017. Last spring, aldermen approved a $5.4 million overall project budget. Tuesday's accepted bid puts construction costs around $4.5 million.
"This is the moment I have been waiting for," Ward 6 Alderman Roy A. Perkins said. "This project has become a reality. We have endeavored to provide SPD with an exemplary facility. This process has been a very long and tedious road. I have been present and have served every step of the way during this very long and involved process."
