Starkville police and animal control officers are taking donations through Saturday for Louisiana's tens of thousands of flood victims, human and animal alike.
Police announced Tuesday afternoon they intend to take a load of donated supplies to Louisiana this weekend, and so asked for all donations to arrive by Saturday afternoon.
Requested items include bleach, paper towels, garbage bags, rubber gloves, band aids, non-perishable items, hand sanitizer, soap, batteries, flashlights, towels, pillows, sheets, blankets, clothes, socks, duct tape, tarps, zip ties, box cutters, infant formula, diapers, toddler pull-ups, baby food, adult diapers, toothbrushes, toothpaste, food for all types of animals, food buckets, food bowls, rope for larger livestock, and gallon jugs of water.
For the specific items requested by Starkville police, the following drop-off locations are open:
• All Starkville Police Department locations
• Oktibbeha County Humane Society, 510 Industrial Park Road;
• Ricks Café, 319-B Highway 182;
• Spruill Property Management, 1016 Louisville St.;
Smith Animal Hospital, 1415 N. Jackson St.; and
Oktibbeha County Co-Op, 201 Pollard Road.
