Skylar O'Kelly received the minimum allowable sentence Friday in the August 2014 death of Thomas Parker Rodenbaugh: 10 years in state prison on a drug-trafficking charge, and 20 years for second-degree murder.
Oktibbeha County Circuit Court Judge Lee J. Howard set the sentences to run concurrently, and outlined O'Kelly's option for appeal at the morning sentencing hearing. O'Kelly was found guilty on both counts Thursday after a four-day jury trial.
O'Kelly has been free on $40,000 bond since shortly after his initial arrest, but was taken into custody by Oktibbeha County deputies at the conclusion of the sentencing hearing. Howard said when O'Kelly's attorneys file an appeal, he will set a new bond at that point.
