Starkville aldermen will vote on special event approval for Bulldog Bash at the Aug. 2 meeting, city officials confirmed Tuesday.
The request was filed with the community development department Tuesday afternoon, and shows the Cotton District as the event's potential home for the popular, annual outdoor concert series and market.
Documents show the stage could be set up in front of Coconuts gas station, with barricades along entrance points of University Drive and connecting streets—if approved by aldermen.
The Mississippi State University Student Association previously planned on moving the event away from downtown Starkville to MSU's amphitheater, citing logistical concerns with development projects in the Cotton District.
Last year's event was held on Sept. 11, a night before MSU's football team played LSU, and organizers said around 30,000 people attended the Maroon Market and concert series amid heavy rains. The event has steadily grown since the inception of the student-run, student-led event in 1999.
