A Starkville man with a criminal history is facing a new charge of being a convicted felon in possession of a weapon.
The Starkville Police Department said in a press release on Monday that 41-year-old Brian Douglas Baughman was arrested on the single count on Friday and had an initial appearance in municipal court over the weekend.
His bond was set at $10,000 at the Oktibbeha County Jail, before he posted bond and was released.
Baughman pleaded guilty to single counts residential burglary and ID fraud in 2014, reaching a plea deal that saw several other charges, including controlled substance, false pretense and another burglary of a dwelling charge retired based on the plea.
He was convicted of breaking into a home in the 200 block of Lindsey Lane and stealing $2,000 in cash.
Baughman was sentenced in August 2014 to 11 years in prison, with Circuit Judge Lee Howard suspending five years and giving Baughman six years to serve with five years of post release supervision.
