A Starkville man was arrested on auto burglary charges Saturday morning.
The Starkville Police Department arrested Naikerious Doss, 18, on two counts of attempted auto burglary Saturday morning based on a report received at 5:30 a.m. SPD Public Information Officer Brandon Lovelady said SpD received a report of “individuals” looking into vehicles on North Montgomery Street.
“Officers made contact with (Doss) after the call and he was arrested shortly after,” Lovelady said. “After further investigation, officers charged him with two counts of attempted auto burglary.”
Lovelady said the case is still under active investigation. Doss was transported to the Oktibbeha County Jail later Saturday morning and his bond was set at $10,000 Doss for both counts. He credits Doss’ arrest to “community teamwork.”
“This is another perfect example of how when communities work together, they can reduce crime,” Lovelady said. “We can’t be everywhere at one time. The community and the SPD are a team and together we reduce crime.”
