The Oktibbeha County Volunteer Fire Department responded to a fully involved car fire Monday afternoon.
Oktibbeha County Fire Coordinator Kirk Rosenhan said East Oktibbeha Fire Department responded to a car fire on Pat Station Road at 2:38 p.m. Oktibbeha County Sheriff's Deputies also responded to the scene of the fire.
Rosenhan said there were no injuries from the incident, but there was a small scare when an air bag went off when ignited by the flames.
Rosenhan said the owner of the Chevrolet Impala was driving down Pat Station Road, when he noticed smoke coming out from under the hood and the engine quit. He said when the owner got out to check under the hood, the vehicle caught on fire.
Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire in under just a couple of minutes.
Rosenhan said there were about six firefighters on scene and two trucks available. He said there are always two trucks available for extra water just as a precaution.
The road was closed for only a brief moment, as firefighters extinguished the fire.
