U.S. Rep. Gregg Harper’s office last week announced the winners of this year’s Congressional Art Competition.
Harper’s office in Pearl hosted an awards ceremony at the Pearl Community Room, honoring the winning students along with their parents and teachers.
Starkville High School saw two of its most artistic students carry home awards.
Riley Hardy finished first in the drawing category for the submission titled “Mississippi Silver.”
Hannah Jian won both first and second place in the photography category for her submissions titled “Wrinkles,” which placed first and “Runny Home,” which finished second.
Both Jian and Hardy are decorated representatives for the school and have been awarded for their work in the past.
The Starkville Daily News previously reported that Jian won three Gold Keys for her work in the 2018 Mississippi Scholastic Art and Writing Awards, while Hardy won one.
All three of Jian’s Gold Keys were in photography and Hardy won his for drawing and illustration.
