The Starkville Police Department will host a free firearms safety class on Saturday, June 9 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
The department looks to offer training that promotes responsible firearm ownership.
Topics will include: responsibilities of gun ownership, firearms safety in both home and vehicle, firearms with children in the home, and laws pertaining to gun ownership.
Attendees will be able to bring their own handgun, have it inspected, and fire it at the Starkville Police Department range during this training.
This course is open to anyone over the age of 21.
Attendees will be required to pass a background check and must not be exempt from possessing a firearm.
