Two Starkville men were arrested this week on felony warrants issued for two different burglary incidents.
The Starkville Police Department said in a press release that 33-year-old David Parrish turned himself in on Wednesday after a warrant was issued for a Jan. 13 commercial burglary at Parrish Towing on Spruill Industrial Park Road.
The current owner of the business - who asked not to be named - said Parrish is the brother of the previous owner of the business and had stayed on in a senior position after the towing company was purchased in March of last year.
The owner said Parrish was let go in November, but still had access to the company’s safe and codes.
Parrish is accused of taking a large sum of cash, with management of the business saying they could prove he stole roughly $4,100.
Management said Parrish had returned $1,700 since the alleged burglary.
Parrish was released after bond was set at $15,000. He is scheduled to appear in Starkville Municipal Court on Monday, March 5 at 6 p.m.
In an unrelated incident, 18-year-old Octavious McMullen was arrested on a felony warrant on Tuesday for a Dec. 4, 2017 auto burglary in the 600 block of South Montgomery Street.
McMullen was transported to the Oktibbeha County Jail with bond set at $10,000.
He had an initial appearance in Starkville Municipal Court on Wednesday and is scheduled for his next court appearance on Thursday, Feb. 22 at 2 p.m.
