ORIGINAL STORY

A 25-year-old autistic man has been missing in the Columbus area since Monday morning and despite several alleged sightings, he has still not been found.

The Columbus Police Department first announced it was looking for Christopher Jamal Reed, who was last seen at his home on 19th Street South at 8:30 a.m. Monday.

Family members reported on Tuesday that Reed was seen walking in the rain near the soccer complex mid-morning Monday.

Investigators say Reed does not drive and has not wandered from his home in the past. Additionally, it has been said Reed does not visit friends in their homes.

Reed was last seen wearing black sweatpants, a light gray pullover, and white tennis shoes. He is a five-foot, nine-inch African-American male and weighs 120 pounds.

On Tuesday afternoon, there were several sightings reported from residents that turned out to not be the missing man.

The latest update in the search saw investigators look into reports of Reed being seen inside of the Columbus Walmart at about 1:15 a.m. Tuesday morning.

Investigators have not released any additional information on the potential sighting at Walmart and said they are currently reviewing camera footage.

Later in the evening hours on Tuesday, Columbus Fire and Rescue had six firefighters on 4-wheel Rhinos searching wooded areas near the river and several other locations. They continued the search through Tuesday and into Wednesday.

There was also an organized volunteer search during the evening hours Tuesday at the Riverwalk. Emergency personnel also aided in the search of that area.

Anyone with information on Reed is asked to call 911.
