Mississippi State University is expanding its commencement ceremonies.
Starting with this year’s December graduation, the fall commencement will be divided into two ceremonies, while an additional ceremony will be added to the spring commencement starting in May 2018.
The first December Commencement ceremony will take place at 9:30 a.m. and will include students from the College of Architecture, Art and Design, College of Arts and Sciences, College of Education and general studies. The second ceremony will start at 4 p.m. and include students of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, College of Business, James Worth Bagley College of Engineering, College of Forest Resources and College of Veterinary Medicine.
“As our commencement ceremonies have reached capacity and knowing participation in the ceremonies will continue to increase, the Commencement Committee, after exploring several options, recommended to the provost and president that the university expand its ceremonies,” said MSU Assistant Vice President for Enrollment John Dickerson.
The 2018 spring final exam schedule will include Saturday April 28, 2018 to accommodate a third spring commencement ceremony. MSU officials will develop the exam schedule to minimize Saturday exams.
Commencement attendees are encouraged to review traffic and parking instructions prior to the ceremonies. Security will be in place, and all bags will be subject to search at the Humphrey Coliseum.
