Starkville man charged after Westside Market stabbing

Jason Orlando Ellis, 35, was booked in the Oktibbeha County Jail by the Starkville Police Department on Friday and charged with aggravated assault after stabbing a male victim in the right side of his torso, near his liver.

A Starkville man is in jail after being charged with aggravated assault connected to a stabbing earlier this month.

Jason Orlando Ellis, 35, was booked in the Oktibbeha County Jail by the Starkville Police Department on Friday and charged with aggravated assault after stabbing a male victim with a knife in the right side of his torso, near his liver.

It is unclear at this time what caused the altercation. The status of the victim is also not known at this time.

The incident occurred on Oct. 5 at Westside Market in the 100 block of Westside Drive.

Ellis is currently in the Oktibbeha County Jail with bond set at $57,000. His initial appearance in Starkville Municipal Court was on Monday night.

If found guilty of aggravated assault, Ellis could face up to 20 years in prison and a fine not to exceed $10,000.

Ellis is also facing charges for DUI second offense, no driver's license, shoplifting and probation violation.

His next appearance in Starkville Municipal Court is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 23.
