A fatal accident occurred at around 10 a.m. on Tuesday morning, when one vehicle carrying three people ran off the road on Highway 82 East and into a ditch.
MHP said in a press release the 1999 maroon Ford Expedition was traveling east when it left the roadway on the right side, overturned and entered the woods. The driver of the vehicle, 40-year-old Tequila Spears and front seat passenger, 69-year-old Betty Boyd, both of Louisville, were both pronounced dead at the scene by the Oktibbeha County Coroner.
Mississippi Highway Patrol Master Sergeant Criss Turnipseed said MHP believes the vehicle had a blow out, which caused it to run off the road and flip several times.
There was also a 23-month-old male passenger from Louisville in the vehicle who was transported to OCH with minor injuries.
This accident remains under investigation by MHP.
