Heath Barret, interim CEO and director of membership development for The Greater Starkville Development Partnership, has announced he will leave the GSDP at the end of the month.

The GSDP said Barret will leave to “pursue other opportunities,” but did not provide additional details as to what that might entail. Barret’s last day at the GSDP will be July 26.

Barret expressed his gratitude for his time with the GSDP and said it was an honor to work with the GSDP staff and members.

“I hope that chamber members of the GSDP and the Starkville community will continue to support the organization," Barret said. "It's absolutely vital to Starkville and Oktibbeha County. I am very thankful for the opportunity I was given in 2013 to work at the GSDP."

Chairman of the GSDP Board of Directors Michelle Amos said in a media statement that the GSDP would be sad to lose a valuable team member.

“Membership is at an all-time high and Heath has been an instrumental part of that growth,” Amos said. “He also stepped into the interim role as CEO and kept our organization on task over the last few months. We truly wish him the very best in his future endeavors.”

Scott Maynard was recently named to the position of president and CEO after deciding not to run for re-election for the Ward 5 Alderman seat. Maynard will assume the new role on July 17.

“I wish Heath and his family all the best. I am excited for him and the opportunity this provides his family,” said Maynard.
