The Oktibbeha County Republican Party will hold its precinct caucuses and county convention on Saturday to elect the party’s leadership for the next four years.
Oktibbeha County GOP Chair Marnita Henderson said the caucuses will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at each voting precinct in the county. To participate in the caucus, Republicans must go to the precinct they are registered to vote in.
At the precinct caucuses, voters will elect representatives for the county Republican convention, which will take place Saturday afternoon.
The convention will begin at 3 p.m. at the Oktibbeha County Circuit Court annex, located at 108 West Main Street. At the convention, delegates will elect 15 members to the local Republican Party’s executive committee for the next four-year term.
Henderson said the executive committee will meet briefly following the convention if a quorum is present to nominate delegates to the Mississippi Republican convention in May. The committee could also elect party officers for the next four years.
“We need people to be involved in running the local party for the next four years,” Henderson said. “We need people to take care of the local business of the party and running Republican primaries.”
The Oktibbeha County Democratic Party held its convention in March.
