Unemployment continues to fall across the state of Mississippi, with the latest state data reflecting a growth in local economies across the Magnolia State.
The state’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate sits at 5 percent for March, which is slightly lower than the 5.2 percent unemployment rate reported in February 2017.
The March rate represents the lowest unemployment rate for the state since January 2001.
Local unemployment numbers have not been released at this time, but the Golden Triangle has seen a recent trend of unemployment falling in 2017.
The number of Mississippians in the workforce rose in March by 7,100 to 1,237,000 - which is a year-over-year increase of 19,700 from 2016.
Non-farm jobs saw a slight decline of 100 jobs in in March from the previous month but saw a similar size increase year-over-year.
