Bluefield boil water notice lifted

Starkville Utilities has lifted the boil water notice for customers of the Bluefield Water Association Wednesday, according to a department news release.

The warning for the area west of the Highway 25 bypass and south of Highway 182 affected approximately 1,100 customers, Starkville Utilities General Manager Terry Kemp said.

The loss in water pressure was restored following reported pipe infrastructure issues March 4.

"The pressure was restored that afternoon," Kemp said. "We've had water all this time, but we've encouraged people in that section to boil it."

Officials waited three days for results to come back from the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality in Jackson.
