The final decision to keep Bulldog Bash in downtown Starkville or move to Mississippi State University's campus could be made by the end of the week, officials confirmed Monday.
"Time is of the essence," Greater Starkville Development Partnership CEO Jennifer Gregory said. "I would think that [a decision] would be [made] within days, not weeks."
The time crunch comes after Mississippi State University's Student Association announced the event would leave the Cotton District for the Humphrey Coliseum July 8. The final location must be listed on artist contracts, and no specific date for the event is listed on the Bulldog Bash website.
City staff, Gregory and student association representatives met late last week to see if the event could be kept downtown, according to Starkville Mayor Parker Wiseman. The meeting centered on logistics related to the event.
"We will do everything we possibly can to help find a way to have the event in town," Wiseman said. "It's a big event for Starkville. It's important for our businesses—particularly those in the area of the event—as it brings a large crowd of people to their storefronts."
