Six men, six beards. Maybe two smiles.
Why were they all gathered on a bridge, and where did it stand? How long are these beards now?
If you know anything about this picture, let us know at editor@starkvilledailynews.com and we'll put your answer in next week's edition.
Last week's picture of a cheerful stick-up drew two responses, rather varied.
“I could be wrong about this, but I think this was taken inside Security State Bank (Main Street) around 1965, give or take,” Jerry Wolf wrote. “I was 10 years old then and I seem to remember a promotion that went on there and some of the employees dressing up as cowgirls/cowboys. Don't remember more that that though.”
Virginia McCoy, a member of international service sorority Beta Sigma Phi – which was not affiliated with MSU – said she's sure it was a charity event.
“This was 'Hands Up,' or “Holdup, For Cancer,'” she said. Sorority members asked the major retailers on Main Street for donations, and could take them to “jail” if they didn't pay up, according to McCoy.
She didn't recognize the individuals in the picture, though; the picture we had was probably from after her active time in Beta Sigma Phi, she said.
