A Starkville man has been charged with domestic violence - aggravated assault after police say he strangled at woman at a local apartment complex.
Starkville Police officers arrested 26-year-old Joe Isaac, Jr. shortly before noon Wednesday, charging him with domestic violence - aggravated assault for an incident that occurred on Everglade Avenue.
According to court documents obtained by the Starkville Daily News through a public records request, Isaac is accused of strangling the adult female victim at Brooksville Garden apartments on Wednesday, “leaving visible red marks around her neck, causing her to feel dizzy and near unconsciousness.”
The affidavit also said the victim told police she had soreness in her throat.
Some details of the crime remain unclear, however, such as whose apartment the incident occurred in and how Isaac and the victim know each other
Isaac was transported to the Okitbbeha County Jail and his bond was set at $10,000.
If found guilty of domestic violence - aggravated assault, Isaac could face up to 20 years in prison, along with a possible maximum fine of $10,000.
