Patrons and employees of Hair Express on Highway 12 in Starkville were in for a shock when a vehicle crashed through the front of the salon Thursday afternoon.

The impact shattered several panes of glass and warped window frames at the salon, as well as damaging and moving furniture in the shop’s waiting area. The wall separating the salon from Starkville Cleaners next door was also damaged, along with a single pane of glass and window frame at the adjoining business.

Starkville Police Department officers responded to the scene, along with Pafford EMS personnel.

Pafford Oktibbeha County Manager Tony Fabella said the driver sustained minor injuries in the crash, but declined to comment further.

The driver was not transported to OCH Regional Medical Center.

“We heard a big, loud noise, and we came running out here, and the car was (there),” said hairdresser Kaycee Coghlan, who was in the shop’s back room when the car hit.

SPD Public Information Officer Brandon Lovelady said the crash appeared to be nothing more than an accident.

The vehicle, a black SUV, was towed away with visible damage to its front end.
