Jennifer Baggett
A former teacher in the Starkville-Oktibbeha Consolidated School District will not serve jail time in favor of probation after pleading guilty to two counts of obtaining goods by fraud.
According to Oktibbeha County Circuit Court documents, Sturgis native Jennifer Baggett was sentenced on two of the six counts she was initially indicted on and will serve two five-year terms of non-adjudicated probation, which will run concurrent to each other.
The other four counts were dismissed following Baggett’s guilty plea.
Baggett was initially accused of falsely representing herself under different aliases to obtain credit cards, along with making false statements concerning her identity and Social Security number.
She was arrested on Oct. 3, 2017 and was indicted by a grand jury in January.
The incidents occurred in October 2014, March 2015, April 2015, twice in May 2015 and once more in August 2016.
According to court records, Baggett was able to obtain a card each from Discover Card and First Premier Bank and four cards from Capital One.
Baggett taught at Starkville High School and at Armstrong Middle School starting in 2014, and was terminated from the district as of Oct.11, 2017.
