A Starkville man was arrested for armed robbery in Oktibbeha County Wednesday afternoon.
Courtney Martez Boyd, 21, was arrested by Oktibbeha County Sheriff’s deputies and city police on one count of armed robbery yesterday afternoon around 4 p.m.
Oktibbeha County Sheriff’s Department Investigator Lt. Brett Watson said law enforcement received the initial complaint of the armed robbery around 1 p.m. from the Rockhill Road area of Oktibbeha County.
Boyd was identified as a suspect of the armed robbery and arrested in the Reed Road area of Oktibbeha County.
The person who called in the complaint alleged a firearm was involved with the crime.
Any additional details are unavailable at this time.
“The investigation continues at this point,” Watson said. “Anybody that has information, please contact the sheriff’s department.”
Bond has not been set for Boyd’s one count of armed robbery. Boyd is set to appear in Justice Court today.
After his arrest Wednesday for armed robbery, Boyd was served an indictment from the Oktibbeha County Circuit Court.
In July, the Oktibbeha County Grand Jury served Boyd an indictment for one count of taking a motor vehicle.
The indictment states Boyd took possession of Rimes Dinkin’s dirt bike, which has a value greater than $5,000 but less than $25,000 on Dec. 14, 2017.
Starkville Police Department posted a press release on Dec. 15, 2017 regarding the stolen dirt bike.
SPD’s statement said SPD arrested Boyd along with his brother, 20-year-old Jaylin Boyd, on Dec. 15, 2017.
Upon their arrest, the Boyd brothers were each charged with one count of “taking possession of or taking away a motor vehicle.”
Boyd is set to appear in Circuit Court for his one count of taking a motor vehicle in the October term of the Oktibbeha County Circuit Court.
