A former Armstrong Middle School teacher has been indicted by an Oktibbeha County Grand Jury on the charge of enticement a child.

Lacey McBeath, 37, a former eighth grade science teacher at Armstrong was indicted on the charge, July 6.

The indictment says between the dates of Nov. 1, 2017 and Dec. 19, 2017, McBeath unlawfully enticed a 14-year-old child, persuading them to meet with him for sexual purposes.

McBeath was hired into the Starkville-Oktibbeha Consolidated School District for the 2017-2018 school year. He is no longer employed by the district.

He was released from the Oktibbeha County Jail in January after paying a bond set at $50,000.

McBeath was arrested by the Starkville Police Department and the U.S. Marshal Task Force on Jan. 3. He was initially arrested on two felony warrants for enticement of a child to meet for sexual purposes and enticement of a child to produce visual depiction of sexual conduct.
