The family of a 24-year-old Starkville man, Jarrel Ward, filed a missing person report with the Columbus Police Department on Friday.

According to Ward’s family, Ward was last seen on Thursday morning wearing a white Nike shirt and dark blue jeans with red and white Nike Jordan shoes.

Ward is a black male who is 6-foot, 1-inch tall, weighing 185 pounds. Ward is also known as “BayBay.”

CPD Chief Fred Shelton said Ward was last seen at the Donut Factory on Highway 45 in Columbus.

The Starkville Police Department received a missing persons report for Ward on Saturday evening.

SPD Public Information Officer Brandon Lovelady said SPD is actively investigating the missing person case.

“If you have information, contact law enforcement,” Lovelady added.

According to CPD Public Information Officer Joe Dillon, SPD will be the primary department handling the case, with CPD as the secondary department, because Ward is a Starkville resident.

“We want to do everything we can to assist the family and SPD to find him,” Dillon said. “And we ask anyone who can help find him to contact the SPD so the case is handled in an organized way.”
