Kendle gets house arrest, probation for assault

A local man will serve two years on house arrest and five years probation after pleading guilty to the charge of aggravated assault- domestic violence in Oktibbeha County Circuit Court Wednesday.

On Sept. 24, 2017 27-year-old Enrico Kendle strangled and struck his at-the-time girlfriend, Ashley Burles, first at the couple’s home in Chadwick Place apartments on E. Lee Boulevard. He later repeated his actions at a location near the Highlands development before driving Burles to work. Burles dialed 911 from work, and Oktibbeha County Sheriff’s deputies took Kendle into custody. During theordeal, Burles was chokedtwice, once against thecouch at the apartment and again against their vehicle near the Highlands. Deputies took photos of bruising on Burles to use as evidence.

Kendle was indicted by an Oktibbeha County grand jury on Jan. 5.

After accepting the plea deal in circuit court, Kendle pled guilty to the charges. He was allowed to serve his two years on house arrest, due to holding down two jobs to support his children. Circuit Court Judge LeeHoward suspended the sentence, so he could still support his family. Kendle will also be required to pay $500 in fines and court costs. However, no other financial restitution will be made. After serving the two years house arrest, Kendle will be required to periodically to probation officials over his five years probation.

OTHER CIRCUIT COURT CASES

Elton Paddy pleaded guilty to embezzlement after taking approximately 25 rolls of roofing felt, 45 squares of shingles and assorted roofing nails and lumber from his employer, Spruill Properties, for his own use on or around Nov. 7, 2014. The supplies totaled $2,550. Paddy was sentenced to five years probation and will have to pay restitution in the amount $1,860 to Spruill Properties,the cost of the supplies minus seven squares of shingles recovered from Paddy. Paddy will also be responsible for $500 in fines and court costs. Paddy was in the pretrial diversion program, but failed to complete it.

Justin Brock will serve five years probation after pleading guilty to burglary-breaking out of dwelling, after Circuit Court Judge Lee Howard suspended his sentence. On Feb. 6, 2016, Brock, while working as a contractor removing a fireplace insert in the home of Nana Hatcher at 526 Oriole Dr., in Starkville, entered the bedroom of the dwelling and stole some rings, including diamond, gold and opal. He then sold the rings to Choice Pawn in Tupelo for the amount of $150. In addition to his probation, Brock will be required to pay $150 to Choice Pawn, as well as a $500 fine and court costs. The rings were returned to their owner, and Choice Pawn cooperated fully. Brock’s probation may be transferred to the state of Colorado, where he is currently employed.

In an unrelated case, Chasity Anderson, of Philadelphia, Mississippi, pleaded guilty to false pretense for writing a bad check in the amount of $1,182.25 to Wendy Heineck of the Clark Beverage Group for the purpose of obtaining merchandise from Clark. Anderson will serve one year of probation and be required to repay the $1,182.25, as well as $500 fines and court costs.

Howard was the sole circuit court judge presiding Wednesday.
