An Oktibbeha County Grand Jury has indicted former Parks and Recreation Director Herman Peters for his role in an embezzlement conspiracy regarding city funds.
A grand jury indicted Peters earlier this month on July 6 and his indictment was served on Monday.
While others were arrested and charged in connection to the embezzlement investigation, Peters has been the only suspect served with an indictment as of Monday.
According to the indictment, Peters is accused of entering into a conspiracy with former Parks employee Anthony Stevenson to defraud the city of public funds by way of wages through false and fraudulent claims.
The Starkville Board of Aldermen voted to fire Peters in January, after a group of five former department employees were accused of embezzling $21,702.50 from January 2015 until November 2017.
