As friends and families gather to grill and shoot fireworks in celebration of Independence Day, city and county offices will close for the holiday.

Starkville City Hall will be closed all day on July 4 and will reopen on July 5.

The Sanitation and Environmental Services Department will be closed July 4 in observation of Independence Day. No recycling will be picked up, and regular garbage scheduled pick-up will resume on July 5.

The Parks and Recreation Department offices at the Starkville Sportsplex will also be closed on July 4.

Interim Parks and Recreation Department Director said the walking track and indoor restrooms will remain open, but the gym and any other program requiring staff will be closed.

While the offices will be closed, the Starkville Parks and Recreation Department will host its annual Independence Day Celebration beginning at 5 p.m. July 4 at the Sportsplex featuring fireworks, live music performances, food and drink vendors and jumpers and inflatables.

Logan said the pool at Moncrief Park will be closed until July 3 and July 4 for routine maintenance and testing, and it will reopen on July 5.

All Oktibbeha County offices will also be closed on July 4 in recognition of Independence day and will reopen on July 5.
