Two people were transported to an area hospital Saturday night after a two-vehicle collision in Oktibbeha County.
Oktibbeha County Fire Services Coordinator Kirk Rosenhan said the East Oktibbeha Volunteer Fire Department responded to the call a little after 9 p.m. at Sixteenth Section Road, roughly a half mile north from Highway 182.
The driver of the passenger car involved in the wreck was taken to OCH Regional Medical Center, while the driver of the pickup was briefly trapped in the vehicle.
Hospital officials confirmed to the Starkville Daily News that one person was airlifted from OCH Regional Medical Center to another hospital for additional medical treatment, but could not specify where. Additionally, further details could not be provided regarding the status of either person injured in the wreck as of press deadline on Sunday night.
OCH Public Relations Director Mary Kathryn Night said one patient was brought in and stabilized before being airlifted out at 10:06 p.m.
Investigator Lt. Brett Watson of the Oktibbeha County Sheriff’s Department said their office is handling the investigation, but declined to make an official comment on the incident on Sunday.
