The East Oktibbeha Fire Department responded to a vehicleinvolved fire located near Clayton Village early Wednesday morning.
Oktibbeha County Fire Services Coordinator Kirk Rosenhan said the East Oktibbeha Fire Department was called out at 3:48 a.m. for a truck fire in the eastbound lane of Highway 82 East of Clayton Village.
Rosenhan said upon arrival, an 18-wheeler log truck was found on the shoulder of the street with its drive tires "fully involved.” He said the fire from the tires ignited the logs as well.
Other entities who assisted traffic during the call were Oktibbeha County Sheriff's deputies and Mississippi Highway Patrol. Traffic was closed in the area down to one lane.
There were no injuries reported from the fire, and Rosenhan said the fire was put out quickly once the firefighters arrived.
Rosenhan said the cause of the fire is currently under investigation, but thinks overheated brake pads could be the potential cause of the fire.
