Bond has been set at $10,000 for a Starkville man accused of armed robbery after wielding a pellet gun and taking pocket change from a woman sitting in her car.
Officers with the Starkville Police Department arrested 40-year-old Roger Forrester after 2 p.m. Monday, following a call of a man with a gun asking motorists for money in the area of Highway 12 near Zaxby’s.
Forrester had an initial appearance and probable cause hearing shortly after his arrest and SPD Detective Carly Winship took the witness stand.
Winship said investigators spoke with the victim at Zaxby’s, where she said a suspect matching Forrester’s description stepped out in front of her vehicle and knocked on the driver’s side window.
The victim then noticed the suspect holding a gun, later determined to be a pellet gun.
The suspect asked for money and the victim surrendered her pocket change, with Winship saying “she would have given anything … because she was so scared.”
Winship said police arrested Forrester shortly after the incident, and identified him in video footage taken at a local gas station. She then said the victim also identified Forrester after being shown a photo of him.
Municipal Court Judge Rodney Faver appointed public defender Mark Williamson to represent Forrester and a preliminary hearing date for the case was set for June 21 at 2 p.m.
According to Oktibbeha County Circuit Court records, Forrester also pleaded guilty to prescription forgery in 2002.
