The trial date has been set for a Starkville woman accused of cutting a coworker with a boxcutter last November.

The Starkville Police Department charged 46-year-old Brenda Poe with aggravated assault after cutting a supervisor on the face and back of the head with a boxcutter as he was in the process of calling the police.

Her trial is scheduled to begin during the next regular circuit court term, beginning on July 23.

The incident occurred at the Family Dollar store in the 200 block of North Jackson Street on Nov. 10 at about 6 p.m.

Poe had been told to leave the store, but refused and continued to disturb the business, according to court documents.

Court documents say Poe attempted to get the phone from the victim and had the box cutter in her hand, then proceeded to hold the box cutter open and cut the victim.

The victim was treated for minor injuries and released shortly thereafter.

An Oktibbeha County Grand Jury indicted Poe in January on the aggravated assault charge.
