The trial date has been moved for a Starkville man accused of stabbing another man with a knife at a convenience store.
The case for 35-year-old Jason Orlando Ellis is set for trial on Aug. 1 at 9 a.m. in Oktibbeha County Circuit Court.
An Oktibbeha County Grand Jury indicted Ellis in January, accusing him of stabbing Karl Barker in the side with a knife on Oct. 5, 2017 at Westside Market in the 100 block of Westside Drive.
Ellis would later plead not guilty to the aggravated assault charge in April.
Ellis was booked into the Oktibbeha County Jail with bond set at $57,000. His initial appearance in Starkville Municipal Court was on Monday, Oct. 16, 2017.
If found guilty of aggravated assault, Ellis could face up to 20 years in prison and a fine not to exceed $10,000.
At the time of his arrest for aggravated assault, Ellis was also facing charges for DUI second offense, no driver's license, shoplifting and probation violation.
