A cancer benefit fundraiser for Kevin Reed will be held Saturday, May 19 at Wood College in Mathiston beginning at 7 a.m.
Reed is a lifelong member of the Mathiston and Maben communities. He and his wife of 42 years, Kathy, have two children and three grandchildren.
Reed was diagnosed with liver cancer in December 2017.
“He has always been there and given to our community time and time again and never asked for anything in return,” the event's Facebook page says. “Now it is our time to show him how much we truly appreciate and love him."
Along with a full slate of activities for the day, the event will also feature a fundraising raffle, a dunking booth, jail, face-painting and inflatables for children.
A raffle will be held for a Henry lever action .22 rifle and a Ruger 10/22 autoloading rifle. Prices for the raffle are $5 for one chance, $20 for five chances and $100 for 30 chances.
Tickets will be sold until the drawing time, which is scheduled for May 19.
BBQ chicken plates prepared by Britt Goodin will be on sale for $10 and attendees can preorder Boston Butts for $30 by contacting Kristee Carrithers at 662-552-3838 or Matt Seawright at 662-769-6752.
