For those looking to learn more about law enforcement and day-to-day police work, the Starkville Police Department will host its third annual Citizens Police Academy.
The 10-class academy will begin June 7 at 6 p.m.
Each meeting is expected to last about two hours and there will be one four-hour session on a Saturday.
SPD says the series of classes will offer a “much better understanding of what policing involves and why things are done the way they are.”
An administration fee of $50 will be charged and participants must be over 21 years old. The fee covers classroom materials, T-shirts and a class graduation.
Participants will be required to pass a background check and not be exempt from possessing a firearm.
