Souped-up cars and motorcycles lined the main downtown strip of Sturgis on Saturday morning for the 2018 Sturgis Cruise In.
Roughly 50 vehicles and six motorcycles signed up to compete at the event for multiple categories. The event featured live music, food and plenty of conversation for car and motorcycle lovers.
Ken Reed brought his 2018 Chevrolet High Country to the event. The large black truck was lifted and Reed played music through the truck’s sound system for everyone within ear shot.
“This is a one-off truck,” he said.
Others talked about the parts of their bike, with one attendee explaining how only two parts of the front wheel of his bike were made by Harley Davidson.
Sturgis Mayor Billy Blankenship made the rounds greeting attendees and said many who showed up in classic cars or on motorcycles simply showed up for the event and didn’t register for any of the categories.
“I also want to thank Sturgis Baptist Church and Relay for Life ‘A’ Team for providing the pancake breakfast,” Blankenship said. “Our guests took advantage of a great meal.
Blankenship then said the city is now looking forward to its third show in 2019.
“A big thank you to everyone that helped make this happen and thank you to each person that attended,” Blankenship said.
