A Mississippi University for Women senior vice president will serve as acting president of the institution following the departure of MUW President Jim Borsig at the end of the fiscal year.
The Board of Trustees of State Institutions of Higher Learning named MUW Senior Vice President for Administration and Chief Financial Officer Nora Miller as acting president of The W. Miller has served on the university’s staff since 2001, and holds undergraduate degrees in business administration and accounting from The W. She also holds an MBA from Mississippi State University and is a CPA.
“Nora Miller has more than 15 years of senior leadership experience at Mississippi University for Women,” said Trustee C.D. Smith, president of the Board of Trustees of State Institutions of Higher Learning. “She has served as an integral part of Dr. Borsig’s leadership team and will do an excellent job as acting president.”
Prior to her current role, Miller spent 11 years as vice president for finance and administration at The W. She has also served as director of budget and financial analysis and director of internal audit for IHL, senior auditing accountant for Potter, Bryant and Tate in Birmingham, director of accounting for Central Alabama Community College and senior auditing accountant for the colleges and universities division of the Mississippi State Auditor’s Office.
Miller is a member of civic organizations including the MUW Alumni Association, Columbus Rotary Club, and Town and Tower. She has also served on the Columbus Air Force Base Community Council and is a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.
She is also chair of the University Press of Mississippi, and has been named one of the top 50 Mississippi businesswomen by the Mississippi Business Journal.
