Smithville man accused of assaulting officer

The Oktibbeha County Sheriff's Department arrested 21-year-old Peyton Bradley Horn, of Smithville, on March 4, charging him with simple assault on an officer, resisting arrest and public drunkenness over the weekend.

Oktibbeha County Sheriff's Office Investigator Lt. Brett Watson said Horn kicked the officer multiple times when the arrest was being made.

Horn was arrested after deputies responded to an unrelated assault call in the Highlands Plantation community when they found Horn.

Upon arrival, Horn was arrested after assaulting an officer. The officer did not suffer any significant injuries.

His initial court date was Monday, March 5 and bond was set at $11,000.
