A Houston, Mississippi, man is facing two counts of aggravated assault following a shooting at the Starkville Sportsplex that left two people with minor injuries.
The Starkville Police Department said in a press release Wednesday that 19-year-old Jalon Javon Gates was arrested on Tuesday, with the charges stemming from the shooting that happened outside of a private party at the Sportsplex on Jan. 28.
Bond for the aggravated assault charges was set at $100,000.
He is currently being held in the Prentiss County Jail on unrelated charges and it is not know at this time what those charges are.
The two victims in the shooting were treated for non-lethal injuries.
It is unclear at this time if any additional arrests are expected.
The city, following the shooting, is considering a new policy for late-night events for the Starkville Parks and Recreation Department.
